Five TELs of the GUT
Our TELs of the GUT control our innate experience of gravity and combustibility. Below we explore the five different TELs of Rage that can take over our bodies, each transporting us into a State Experience .
-
Throughout our conscious life, our bodies are capable of blending multiple core states and expressing them in complicated mixtures we call Moods. Occasionally our conscious experiences will take a pause and we will find ourselves absorbed in one overpowering instinctual state. These State experiences (pleasant or unpleasant) can remind us quickly that we are physical beings utterly beholden to our primitive instincts. We experience these moments less like an emotion and more like an ever present, environmental circumstance.
One big indicator that we are entering a State Experience is that whatever is happening feels like it has ALWAYS been that way and will NEVER change.
In FERUS TEL each State Experience is identified as a TEL and is displayed in the form of a graphic image.
State Experience of CONTENTMENT
Since Rage is the instinct that reigns over our raw storehouse of life preserving energies, even in its most dormant mode there remains the essence of deep kinetic potential. When Rage is resolved, the world appears heavy with resounding stillness. Feeling grounded evokes, not peace, but disciplined mastery over aggression. Layers of ancient heroic campaigns are embedded in the ashes. There is a whiff of tragedy in the air.
Moods that are Resolved of Rage
State Experience of AMUSEMENT
When amused by the presence of potential Rage, there is at play a propulsion toward positive action and creativity. Strength comes easily here. The hearth is glowing with good will. This bright energy carries a magnetic force with it, drawing others in and magnifying their best intentions. Laughter in this place is always inclusive and infectious. Like all states, Amused feels like it will last forever - which makes it all the more shocking when it exhausts itself and issues forth its less appealing sister states.
Moods that are Accepting of Rage
State Experience of DISAPPOINTMENT
When the warm fires of Amusement feel utterly spent, there comes a brutal coldness of equal force bent upon taking back the night. Fuses are short here. It’s not enough to simply let the good intentions of others stand unquestioned. Exasperated disappointment exacts payment, pound for pound, for the energies wasted on fruitless acts that yielded nothing, nothing, nothing of value. “See I told you so”. The negative burn of a punishing rebuke gives its own warmth here. And every rebuke bears repeating. Better to be no one’s fool and clear about it, no matter the cost.
Moods that are Rejecting of Rage
State Experience of CONTEMPT
This state of high reactivity to Rage brings the blood coursing through ones veins. Harm is at hand and requires the will to fight to keep it at bay. Here is where oaths are announced, ruptures enacted, and duels arranged. No need to keep weapons concealed for the time has come at last for a show of force. The liberty of this place is in having all claims, petty or grand, laid out for all to see. Volatility is its own sweet abode as you ignite your kindling disappointments into action.
Moods that are Reactive to Rage
State Experience of ANGER
When experiencing Rage at its most overwhelming, self is sundered in exchange for pure defense of self. The defense rarely if ever serves self’s purpose. Instead, the sundering of self carries long lasting repercussions - the mending takes exponentially longer than the breaking. Still, the impulse to destroy is built into our cellular architecture. No matter the harm done to others, fury is always about our own deep intoxication with the destruction of self.
