The Ascetic
Self Inquiry for the Ascetic
Which of your recent actions may have given others the impression that you are trapped in the role of the Ascetic?
In what ways did your intentions express genuine Kindness?
If Bossiness also played a part, what is its story?
Remaining an Ascetic will continue to hold a place for both altruism and control to act in blindness of the other.
If being an Ascetic is no longer serving your purpose in life, you may exchange it by adopting the Mood of Remorse into your Personal Menagerie.
When it arises, the voice of Remorse in me has this to say ……….
Animal Mood Evolutions
Bossy Python
evolves to become
Smug Python
Sorrowful Owl
ev
olves to become
Remorseful Owl
Kind Elephant
evolves to become
Benevolent Elephant
If you are ruled by the Imperative to BE GOOD, inhabiting the Ascetic Persona is especially appealing. Within yourself, you will find the Kind Elephant and Bossy Python existing in ignorance to one another. It is the power of the Ascetic that keeps these two Moods hidden from one another.
Doing good for others will be ineffective so long as you remain ignorant of your own intentions to stay forever in control.
It is the spirit of the Sorrowful Owl that guides toward a more balanced mode of expression for these opposing impulses. In Sorrow you enable keen awareness of your own weaknesses, deflating the Python’s ego and humbling the Elephant’s inflated desire for selfless acts. By bringing together both your Kind and Bossy parts of yourself, you allow the transformation of both.
As Kindness evolves into Benevolence (Elephant), Bossy energies can tend to gravitate toward Smugness (Python). Sorrow evolves as well to counter Python through the development from Sorrow to true Remorse (Owl). Though deeply uncomfortable, Remorse serves as a necessary act of accountability in your quest for a life of Resolve.
